Whilst our city may not be as gifted as Spain and Portugal for sunshine, there's still a superb choice of Spanish restaurants and tapas bars in Manchester to choose from.
Along with the large population of Spanish students at the city's universities, and academics at the Instituto Cervantes on Deansgate, the ever-increasing number of Spanish football stars at Manchester United and City are well-catered for with a number of authentic Spanish restaurants in Manchester, with Pep Guardiola and Juan Mata even owning venues.
Whether it be Iberian ham, Galician octopus, traditional Valencian Paella, Crema Catalana or Basque Pintxos, you can work your way around Spain at the many tapas bars in Manchester; the city where La Tasca, the once popular national chain, started here on Deansgate in 1993.
There's also a number of Portuguese restaurants in Manchester serving up Peri Peri Chicken and Pastel de Nata tarts.
