Click Here for Adam Reid's Great British Menu 14th May 2019
SPOILER ALERT!  If you haven't seen Adam Reid, Chef Patron of Adam Reid at The French, at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, on this year's edition of BBC2’s "Great British Menu", then you may want to avoid this story before you catch up on iPlayer.
If you're still reading...
Adam has successfully progressed from the North West heats to reach the final week, which will begin on Monday, 13th May.

His dishes wowed judges Oliver Peyton, Andi Oliver, Matthew Fort, singer Amy MacDonald, and 2 Michelin Star Chef Tom Aikens, to beat off stiff competition from talented scouser Liam Simpson-Trotman and Gilpen Lodge's Michelin Star Chef Hrishikesh Desai.

Adam will now compete against other successful chefs from around the UK to present one of his four dishes at a banquet to be held at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London where, this year's banquet will celebrate British pop music, and mark the 50th anniversary of the The Beatles’ last live performance.

All four of Adam's dishes (plus his Great British Menu 2016 winning "Golden Empire" dessert) are now available on a special Set Menu at The French for both lunch and dinner, priced at £85 per person, or £145 with matched wines.

Adam’s Great British Menu dishes for this year’s competition are:
From The Beatles To Oasis
STARTER ~ "From the Beatles to Oasis"
Tater ‘ash with malt bread and beef butter
("Should have named it 'Tater 'ashes to 'ashes', after the hit by 1960's Manchester band, The Mindbenders" ~ Restaurants Of Manchester)

FISH ~ "Northern Soul"
Almond poached cod loin, with smoked roe sauce, buttered leeks and fried cheek
("Should have been 'Northern Sole'" ~ Restaurants Of Manchester)
Comfort Food Sounds Good

MAIN COURSE ~ "Comfort Food Sounds Good"
Organic Rhug Estate chicken broth with barley, sweetcorn, leeks and turnip
("Should have been called 'Chicken Rhythms' after the 1991 album by Madchester favourites, Northside" ~ Restaurants Of Manchester)
Madchester, I Am The Resurrection

DESSERT ~ "Madchester’ I Am The Resurrection"
Treacle tart with clotted cream ice cream, orange and mint, and served on a plate made by ex-sound engineer for the Stone Roses, now turned potter, Ian Wilde.
("Could have named it after the Happy Monday's hit 'Tart Tart'" ~ Restaurants Of Manchester)

In 2016, Adam successfully made it through to the Great British Menu banquet with his dessert, "Golden Empire", which was a tribute to ordinary Britons – the theme of that year.  This dish is also available at The French for £25 extra.
