Super Kala fragilisticexpialidocious10th May 2019Outspoken chef and crowd funding king, Gary Usher, opened his brand new King Street bistro, Kala, on Thursday 25th April 2019, with full service from Saturday.
Having broken all crowdfunding records, with over £100,000 pledged (for meal vouchers and more) in barely 11 hours, it is one of the city's most anticipated openings of the year following the success of his Didsbury bistro, Hispi, and Sticky Walnut (Chester), Burnt Truffle (Heswall), Wreckfish (Liverpool) and Pinion (Prescot).
With an emphasis on casual dining, there has also been a focus on allowing people to dine on their own, and the venue will be open all day long, serving many of the dishes made famous at Usher's other bistros.
With high rent and rates, tough trading times for the hospitality industry, and lots of nearby competiton, this is one restaurant opening that many have their eyes on. Fortunately for Kala, they have a fanbase who are more than happy to put their money where their mouth is.
