Solita Shot By The Bull13th Feb 2020Another struggling Manchester restaurant chain has been bought, with the fantastic Yorkshire accessible gastropub food street vendor, Shoot The Bull tweeting "“We're delighted to announce that the award winning @ShootTheBullUK has taken ownership of the Solita Restaurants in Manchester. Your favourite dishes will be staying at Didsbury and NQ. Plus, you'll soon see the introduction of exciting new food created by Shoot The Bull!”.
The celebrated Manchester burger chain had actually fallen into liquidation in February 2019 with debts of £427,000 (£106,000 owed to the tax man and £200,000 to the owner's Social Media company). Their Prestwich branch later closed in June 2019, with owner Simon Pogson starting again under a new company name, SP Restaurants, and retaining the Northern Quarter and Didsbury branches, as well as the El Taquero Mexican restaurant - which also shut its doors on 12th January 2020. It is not known how much (if any) debts were repaid to suppliers and creditors.

Shoot The Bull owner chef Chris Harrison - who previously worked under Heston Blumenthal at the 3 Star Michelin The Fat Duck, Tom Kerridge at the 2 Star Hand & Flowers, and Michael Caines at the 2 Star Gidleigh Park - has seen his gastro pop-up "restaurant on the street" caravans grow to include outlets at Hull Truck Theatre and Trinity Market, and spawn two Rotisserie & Grills at Atom Brewing Co. in Hull's historic Old Town, and at Sheffield’s Kommune food court, before eventually taking permanent premises with the opening of The Old House pubs in both Hull and York (which opened last week).
It's still not known what deal Shoot The Bull have made for the two remaining Solita branches, however they look to be continuing under the Solita brand, serving signature burgers like "The Big Manc" with Warrendale Wagyu beef.
