No Mata

Amongst the news of other high profile closures, Juan Mata's Tapeo & Wine has followed fellow Deansgate Spanish tapas bar Lunya in announcing its permanent closure.

Reported to be over £1 million in debt, the venue, which was ran by the Manchester United midfielder's father and agent, Juan Manuel Mata García, was kept going by the family's regular cash injections.

Sadly, with the venue already temporarily closed during Lockdown, a decision was finally made not to reopen the doors.

One of the best restaurants in Manchester and popular with the city's footballers since opening in 2016, the owners broke the news on Social Media:

"Adiós y Gracias!

"To all our friends and beloved customers.

"Unfortunately, and after 5 years of trying our best to bring Spain to you, through our food, drinks and service, our restaurant Tapeo and Wine will not be opening its doors anymore. We had to take this decision as a result of a number of factors and we thank every single one of you who over the years came and enjoyed with us!

"It's been a great ride and we will always be grateful for your love and support."
