Chorlton Green

Wilmslow restaurant and bar, Suburban Green, is set to open a second branch in the former Parlour and Marmalade unit at 60 Beech Road in Chorlton.

The small plates restaurant and cocktail & wine bar will sit next door to Bar San Juan, who had temporarily rented the unit to help with social distancing rules.

Opened in 2010 by former Coronation Street star Rupert Hill (who played Jamie Baldwin in the soap) and pal Jonny Booth, who also run The Castle Hotel and Gullivers in the Northern Quarter and The Baker's Vaults in Stockport, Parlour Bar closed down in September 2018, "due to a mixture of rising costs (rent, council tax, import costs that came in at the same time as Brexit, but some seem to think the 2 aren't connected) and more competition spreading footfall thin."

Suburban Green was launched on Wilmslow's Hawthorn Lane in 2017 by Martin Lowe and Cal Gregg-Williams and serves quirky cocktails, craft beers and fine wines.
