Bacchanalia Restaurant Manchester - member's reviews |
"We've always had a good experience at Bacchanalia but for some reason we stopped using it until a few weeks ago.
We've dined there a few times in the last month and the staff are invariably excellent. We're glad that we've rediscovered it as the food is consistently very good also and the prices are very reasonable. It's very well located and suitable for a special occasion or just a quick light meal.
Downstairs is a lively cocktail bar, where you can also eat. Upstairs is a quieter restaurant area and, in good weather, you can also sit outside.
A starter and a main meal for two won't set you back much more than £50, including wine. In fact, the Hi-Life card can bring the bill in at much below that mark too. I can recommend the Sharing Platter as an excellent and economical starter, but in my experience you can't really go wrong. Normally I stick to Italian restaurants for pasta dishes but the Pappardelle I ordered at Bacchanalia is up there with the best pasta I've tasted in the city.
Overall, Bacchanalia is a comfortable, not glitzy, restaurant and the bar's great just to drop in for a cocktail or a beer." - Ian, Manchester ~ TRUSTED REVIEWER (11/7/11

"It's amazing how many excellent restaurants there are on this tiny street. And it was because the likes of Chaophraya, Le Petit Blanc and Sam's Chop House were all full we ventured into Bacchanalia by default. I was so glad we did! I have to say, the Lamb Rack, given a Mediterranean twist with its honey and sultana crust, was the best dish I've ever had in a Manchester restaurant - an incredible statement as I've ate in all the celebrated ones like The French, The Lowry, Choice, Chaophraya, Piccolino's, Yang Sing and Akbar's. I really wish I'd visited here for food before - I've been many times for cocktails but just presumed the menu was of bar food quality. How wrong was I. Very highly recommended." - Neil, Manchester ~ TRUSTED REVIEWER (29/4/2007 - visited on a saturday evening) |
