Pizza Express Italian Restaurant Manchester - reader comments

Trusted Reviewer "My husband and I really do like Pizza Express, there is something very reliable about the place and when we visited the Exchange Square branch on a Friday evening it was fairly quiet and relaxed. We both shared nuts and olives to start and followed this with the deliciously hot and spicy Etna Pizza. This was all complemented with a very reasonably priced and excellent bottle of the Sicilian Nero d'Avola Shiraz. The only couple of minor niggles we found were that some better knives would have helped as the pizzas can be tougher to cut than you would think! We would also have preferred to finish our starters before the pizzas arrived. All in all though if you want a pizza, I would still suggest you go to Pizza Express" - michelle, rochdale - TRUSTED REVIEWER - (4/6/09 visited on a Fri evening)

Trusted Reviewer "I always thought Pizza Express was a safe option when you wanted a bite to eat. Nothing special but good quality food. I was wrong. My friend and I think it may be due to it's location and felt it was aimed at tourists. We felt we would have had a different experience at the South King street branch. The place was dead with no atmosphere or music. All staff were partaking in a big clean up which is good but not when you are trying to have a meal. The food was average. The starter wasn't cooked properly and the pizza was hard. After eating many a Soho Pizza in my time I was looking forward to the big flakes of parmesan. Instead I got a meagre offering which was damn right embarrassing considering its a main component of the pizza. When asked why they were shy with the ingredients, we were informed that it's always like that. At least the wine was good after choosing the recommendation from our server. We ran away very quickly without leaving a tip and consoled ourselves with a cocktail at the Modern's bar. What a waste of a tea opportunity in town" - clare, ashton-under-Lyne - TRUSTED REVIEWER - (12/9/08 visited on a Thu evening)
