"As we said in last year's review (below), 'Linen is a superb restaurant that ticks all the boxes and leaves you impressed enough to return as soon as you can, introducing different friends to its elegant dining arena each time'. This visit, and all of our others previously highlight the case in point. Whilst the restaurant is still as plush, the staff still as fantastic and the food equally as impressive, the prices have also been reduced massively to take into account the credit crunch. You can now get 2 courses for just £10 and the most expensive item on the menu is the 8oz Fillet Steak at a reasonable £21.50 with square cut chunky chips and a Portobello mushroom.
The Roast Rump of Lamb (only £14.95) melts in your mouth. Served with rosemary Dauphinoise potato, courgette timbale and red wine jus, it was cooked to perfection, pink and tender. The Honey Glazed Chili Chicken (£12.50) was superb value for money and had a great kick thanks to its chilli & coriander dressing.
Set inside the plush Manchester 235 casino, the restaurant is set both above and away from from the gambling area by a wide sweeping staircase, either side of the impressive cocktail bar. The decor is breathtaking - large expensive furniture is complemented by the brick walls of the Great Northern Warehouse, classy lighting and French style sideboards. There's a private dining room behind a glass window that was occupied by a birthday party on our visit and, it has to be said, there can't be many better venues to hold a celebration.
We thoroughly recommend Linen, at these prices you'd be hard pushed to find a restaurant in Manchester as good!" - Restaurants Of Manchester (18/8/09 - visited on a Saturday evening)
