"The quality of the food at the Second Floor Restaurant was outstanding. It was our first visit to the restaurant and the food really did exceed our expectations. We hadn't been before because my wife was put off by its location in a department store, even if it is Harvey Nichols. The restaurant is set slightly apart from the larger bar/brasserie area and the deli area, but it's not perfect. However it makes a change to have a view of parts of the city and the quality of the food more than makes up for it. Manchester lacks many choices when it comes to this style and quality of food, with only two or three other options. My wife and I have two young children so don't get out as much as we used to, so when we do get out we like it to count. I'm really grateful to have found another restaurant in Manchester with such high quality food, service and drinks. The food and drinks aren't cheap, but the quality is very high and worth paying for.
The service was pretty much perfect. If I was to be really picky the main course came a little too quickly after the starters, but that is all.
In some respect, there are better restaurants when it comes to the surroundings but if you like very high quality food, the Second Floor Restauant is a great destination, where we will definitely be returning to.
Every aspect of the meal was superb and highly recommended, whilst the Champagne cocktail trolley is a must!" -
